How to market your products

Product Marketing for Home Based Online Businesses

If you are like most internet based home business entrepreneurs then marketing your product and driving increasing traffic to your web page is essential to increasing sales. The challenge is to market your products and increase your traffic and to do it affordably or even for free.

Fortunately, this is an option for home based businesses, and all it takes is a little creativity combined with dedication. And for those home based businesses with advertising budgets, there are even more advertising options available. Here are some suggestions that should help your product marketing plan significantly.

One of the best ways to get your web page noticed is by writing and publishing articles. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of ezines and newsletters that are constantly looking for new content.

First, you need to find some ezines and newsletters that target your niche market. You can search for them on your favorite search engine by searching for "ezine directories" or "newsletter directories".

Then, write an article that can be submitted to a variety of these ezines and online newsletters, just make sure you retain the copyright. You may not think that you have the ability or creativity to write articles, but it can easily be done with a couple hours of effort and some commitment. The key part of marketing your home business is by creating a resource box at the end of your article that contains your URL and some brief information about you and your company. Doing this will get your web page out in the public quickly and will result in many hits and free product marketing.

Another way to market your products is to create a forum on your web page. By doing this, you are getting individuals to talk about products and services offered by your company as well as competitors and other relevant topics. This alone will help your product assuming you are offering top notch quality and customer service.

If not, then a forum might not be the best idea for you. In addition, a forum will require a commitment of your time in reviewing the posts to make sure the discussions are kept within the rules.

However, for those that are committed to their customers, forums generally create repeat traffic which is important to making sales. This is important because it has been proven that more than 70% of sales are made after the third, fourth or fifth contact. A forum keeps individuals coming back for more and more contact, which means you will sell more products.

Additionally, you should use banners on your own web page as well as others by exchanging links. You should also list your web page with search engines. All of these will help your web page get noticed which means your products and services will get noticed and your home based business will prosper.

Remember that the most important factor in product marketing online is URL marketing. You might have the best product for the best price on earth, but if nobody knows how to get to your web site it doesn't matter. Therefore, be diligent about getting your URL out there.

Finally, market your product and URL offline. This will reach a different sector of individuals and will also increase web page traffic. Make sure your URL is printed on any correspondence from your company including checks, faxes, web pages, emails, and letters, envelopes, and any promotional items like key chains, mouse pads and the like. The more people that know your URL means more traffic to your site. This in itself is the best product marketing you can receive.

How to get free publicity

How To Get Free Publicity For Your Home Business

Did you know you can get free newspaper and television advertising for your home business? How? Just pick up the telephone and call your local media and tell them all about your home business. If they think your home business is interesting enough, they'll come out and interview you, and just like that--free publicity! You might not know it, but this occurs much more often than you realize.

Why? Because the media loves doing those kinds of community interest stories. It makes them appear more sensitive and caring about what's happening in their community, which leads to more viewers and readers--and of course more advertising revenue.

However, depending on how busy they are and what type of other newsworthy events are going on in your community, they might not immediately appear interested in your story. In the event that happens, try calling them once a week until you get your interview. Don't be rude, but be persistent.

Reporters understand about persistence, because that's how they get many of their stories. It also doesn't hurt to be creative. I heard of a story where a home based catering business catered a surprise free lunch for a local television station.

They literally walked in the front door of the tv station, and started handing out free lunches to all of the employees--starting with the security guards. The news staff was so impressed with the quality of the food, they dispatched a news crew to interview the caterer the very next day.

Apparently, someone in higher places saw the interview on television, because two weeks later that catering company was catering lunch at the governor's mansion. That catering job led to many more catering jobs, and other than a small ad in the yellow pages, that catering company is so busy, it doesn't need to advertise at all.

I know of another story where someone who owned a home based mobile oil change company volunteered to change the oil in the cars of the employees of a local newspaper for free. In the evening addition of that newspaper, the mobile oil change company was featured on the front page.

The company received so many telephone calls from that one newspaper article, they were booked up for months in advance. Free publicity. You can't buy it, you can't beat it--go get it!

Tips for starting a home business

Starting a home business is a dream that many people share. You can work according to your own schedule, "fire" difficult clients, avoid difficult bosses, spend more time with your family, escape a lot of the daily stress faced by employees at their jobs, and pursue your own interest more. It's a big leap from being an employee to working for yourself, so a little preliminary planning can never hurt.

You will need to look ahead to several areas of your life to make necessary preparations, before you actually leave your job. In some cases, such as a layoff, you won't have that opportunity in advance, but still, these are very important factors to consider. Market research and a business plan are essential. Timing is very important. You will need to think about the type of business you're starting, current economic conditions, your financial situation, and the potential market for your products or services.

If you have no other means of financial support, you should accumulate some savings to carry you through your business startup. Most experts typically suggest six months to one year of living expenses as a cushion. Don't forget that you will need to provide for benefits you may have received at a job, such as health insurance for yourself and your family and funding into a retirement plan. Of course, if you have a spouse or partner who is employed and is willing to provide these necessities during your startup phase, you are that much ahead of the game. It is important that you choose the business structure that's best for your business. Each form of business organization has both legal and tax implications, so be sure to consult with professionals in this area.

Of course you will want to have a comfortable and quiet work space. Ideally, it will be out of the mainstream of activity. This is important not only to reduce noise, but also psychologically for you and your family, to create a sense of "at work" and "at home". While some truly start their home business from the kitchen table, you'll find that the separation will help you run your business much more efficiently. Don't forget to allow space for manufacturing and inventory storage, if your business involves those things.

Working from home, sometimes long and unusual hours, makes it very easy to ignore both your physical and mental health. The usual advice applies - try to eat a proper diet and exercise, and even if you don't have a family at home, don't work all the time. Entrepreneurs often report the one aspect they miss most from having a regular job is the contact with co-workers, so be sure to maintain a social life, even if it's only through a business networking or support group.

Finally, try to surround yourself with positive, supportive people, hopefully starting with your own family. This will be a critical part of your support system. It's not always possible to get "buy in" from your family. Those who love you the most aren't usually trying to stand in your way - it's just that working in a home business is something unknown to them, and like everyone, they tend to be fearful of something they don't understand. If you find yourself in this situation, you may be able to find the support you need in a business networking or mastermind group.

Home business anyone?

You might be asking this... Hey... what is home business actually? Well, it's actually the way we do business from home or work at home business. Some people usually involved in it because of the following reasons:
*Love doing business but still lack of capital i.e. shop lot rent cost and worker pay salary
*Generate income without having to go out from home especially women
*Would like to try involving in low risk business before seriously venturing in business full time.
*Having hobby that can turn into income
